How is it a strike?
They let you opt out of it. So long as I can do that (and I did) I'm ok with them trying to do whatever.

Opt-out, yes, that's fine. However, if I didn't stumble upon an entry in motorcycles linking to that, I would never have known.

It's not like they were trying to hide it though. lj_biz and news/updates communities are usually pretty good abut letting us know about this stuff (as per the link you linked to) but it's up to us as LJ-ers to decide how closely we follow them.

i don't get why you're annoyed...
they are trying to make the site better by analysing how people use it. surely this is a good thing (whether you opt out or not)

Read between the lines. They're analyzing how people use LJ for the purpose of deciding where it's best to put ads.
