How do you change a belief?

Honestly, I'm not really sure. The way that information is stored in the brain, especially when it comes to something as complicated as beliefs, is a mystery to me--and that's assuming that it's actually stored in the brain to begin with.

I guess you have to be exposed to information that--to you--seems superior to and/or compatible ( with the information that you already have )

belief, speculation

There are of course patterns in belief...but it is more a "belief pattern" itself versus type of belief.

People usually do react consistently to most things, including myself. That's why it's so hard to change beliefs when it's not externally imposed (or if you want to get technical, when it's not unconciously brought into our lives).

The entire concept of "paradigm" or a "web of belief" (to source my beloved Quine) is that beliefs are connected. If you break a strand, the entire system must be shifted in some way as well.

My personal view of things is like a 3-D sculpture. If you shift a section of the sculpture, you must now re-evaluate all dimensions again to see how it fits together as a whole.
