Mercedes was sick and tired of being cooped up inside all day. Whether she liked to admit it or not, she was glad that Rachel had decided to have a get together for the Glee Club Saturday. It gave her something to do, and she actually had a bit of fun in the process.

At the moment, Mercedes happened to be one of those people sitting outside, on the porch. It seemed like a better option than sitting inside, actually doing her homework. She had always been a good student, but the grades she was getting in the fifties was ridiculous. Most of her time was spent doing homework, which made her grades absolutely stellar. Even the math, which she still couldn't believe couldn't be done with a calculator.

She looked up from the very interesting spot on the ground when she heard someone speaking to her. Well, she assumed the person was speaking to her. She smiled slightly when she saw that it was Santana. This could possibly be one of the few times in her life when she was happy to see the other girl ( ... )

"How can you not be bored? There's nothing to do. There's like no malls, no movie theaters, no Starbucks, nothing!" She sat down next to Mercedes and laid back. "I think I could die of boredom. I mean, homework almost looks like fun. Almost."

A thought passed through her mind. Looking at the darker chick, she asked, "Wait, you live on this street too? We live close by?"

There was a soft laugh from Mercedes. "I have no idea how anyone could not be bored here. I suppose the people actually from the fifties have become accustomed to there being nothing to do, so they find something to do." She shrugged. "And homework does almost look fun. It gives me something to do, anyway."

She glanced over at the girl, and nodded. "It appears that way, doesn't it?"

A Monday off from school was supposed to be fun. Lauren should have slept in late, avoided doing homework, watched Eclipse for the five hundred eighty-eighth time, and met up with friends. Instead she got of bed rather early, got coaxed into helping her mom cook as she had actually finished her homework Friday night, and was forced to play nice as her parents entertained some of their neighbors at the cook out they were having. Lauren was done with it all. She mumbled a quick excuse to her mom about having to help a friend study. Remembering her books too, Lauren grabbed the keys to her car, and quickly left. She drove to the only real friend she had made.

Mercedes was sitting on her porch when Lauren pulled up. Someone was with her, she noted as she stepped out of the car. Oh hell, it was Satan herself. Whatever, Lauren thought. Mercedes and maybe even Santana, though Lauren would never admit it, were better than having no one at all.

"I almost want to read too," she grumbled. Seeing a car stop by Mercedes place, Santana stopped speaking and looked towards it. As she saw Lauren emerge from it, she couldn't help but laugh. Was she glad someone else from 2011 was around as well?

She whistled at Lauren and yelled out, "Is Big Z bored too? Coming to join and be miserable with the rest of us?"

Mercedes glanced up when she heard a car near her house. Noting that it was stopping in front of her house, she arched an eyebrow. She smiled when she saw Lauren emerge from the car.

"Lauren!" It wasn't that she had anything against talking to Santana, and just Santana, she welcomed more company. She motioned to the other chair on the porch. "Sit. It's what all the cool kids are doing, apparently."

Lauren slowly made her way up to the porch. She sat down in the chair Mercedes had indicated was for her before speaking, "Well hell if this is what the cool kids are doing, I'd hate to be a loser. What are you two even doing?"
