ohh.. that's good. At first glance, the feel was a little off for Claire, but nobody writes the same way they speak, and that definitely captures the feel of Claire being formal.

I know what you mean - I was a little afraid that writing a 'Dear John' letter was a little obvious given the prompt, but when I had started it, it took a little time to get just right. There's this kind of embarrased formality that I wanted to come through, so that it almost feels like Claire's deliberately holding back on what she would naturally say, as the only way she could actually get the words down.

Ouch. I like the bit about her not wanting to disappoint people, and her allusion to "eight weeks of fun and happiness". I can see this happening between them.
