In an interview with the Des Moines Register, John McCain stated that he "always aspired" to be a dictator. To hear it for yourself, click on the third of the little McCain-faces: "Economic Bill Failure".
Dang. Chalk that one up there with 'jokes about bombs in line at the airport" on the lit of Things Not To Say. I can only assume that was meant to be a humorous touch but it failed like only a comment about wanting to be a dictator from a presidential candidate after eight years of unprecedented abuses of presidential power can fail.
Didn't Bush also mention at least three times in public that he wished he were a dictator, too? And Rove, that they wanted a permanent Republican majority in Congress?
(And then set about dismantling the rule of law so that they could achieve precisely that?)
