We'll see. I am going with a few people, and I might could arrange for a few guys to be in the picture, but I'm not sure about the 'at my feet' part. LOL! I'll do my best though.
I do have Lucy's dagger from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to complete the ensemble, but sadly Peter's sword has not arrived yet, and does not come with a scabbard anyway. All weapons have to be peace-tied, so a naked sword is totally not allowed. :-/
It's the Lady of the Lake by a Californian photography called Celeste Giuliano. She does pin up girls now tho and her lovely old mythology pics are gone :(
That sounds lovely. I used to do live action fantsasy role-play so I've got loads of assorted costumes and props and bits, but no dresses because I never played that kind of character. Also, I'm quite short and it's generally a bit of a bugger trying to get stuff 'off the peg' that fits me :(
I'm actually awaiting the arrival of the sew-on ARC patch and my miltary tac vest at the moment! I've already got the black combat trousers and thigh holsters. Now all we need is for them to announce some Primeval cast at the SFX con to make all our costume efforts worth it.
Random question - what actually is a renaissance fair? I have a vague feeling it might be similar to what we call re-enactment fairs over here, but I'm not sure (although that does remind me I still need to read the latest chapter of that C/A fic with the renaissance fair).
Oh wow, that sounds like fun. I just dress up for it, I don't actually participate in anything other than observation. :-) I know exactly what you mean. I usually have to hem things, but this costume involves a shorter skirt, so no hemming required. :-D (I hate having to hem things).
I want an ARC patch and military tac vest. *pouts* Also, that costume sounds awesome. I hope some one shows up to that for you. Then at least we could get some more pictures.
A Renaissance Fair (or festival) has some reenactment stuff and a lot of random stuff. The are shows/skits to see, a jousting competition, and musicians. The scenery is also quite lovely. It's way out in the country, so it feels like you are waling through a little medieval European village. There are all kinds of crafts and stuff to buy also. We did a wine tasting last year. Very interesting. (And like an overload of innuendo. LOL!) Great stuff all around. And I so need to read that story also.
Yes, we do need all the help we can get. That's so true. I've never had one, so I'm so excited to be able to play with it. It feels amazing, even if I can barely breathe (and don't even mention trying to bend over.) hehehehehe.
Wow! That looks amazing! I would love to do the whole dressing up thing - did it a couple of years ago but that was just an ordinary fancy dress party at a club, and then I did do a Sci-Fi convention dress as Dana Scully - had my own FBI id badge and a long beige trench coat.
Sounds like you all have the same issues as me when it comes to finding decent costumes. I'm just short and curvy in the wrong places though, and if I didn't keep my girls under control with reinforced scaffolding I'd be arrested for indecency LOL
That's cool about your X-Files costume. I love trench coats.
They do this particular one every year. It's great fun. There are a few of them around the state, but this one is one of the biggest. It's pretty awesome. Here's a link to see what it's like: http://www.texrenfest.com/home.html
LOL reinforced scaffolding indeed. Sadly I know EXACTLY what you mean. *Sporfles loudly*
One of these days I am going to come over to the States and the renfest is exactly the sort of thing I'd love to do! My cousin is married to an American, they live near Kansas City and keep saying I should come over and stay. I'd do the family stuff and then maybe do a bit of a road trip.
