044 [location: a warehouse in shelley] we go to parties, listen to the DJs

Dec 30, 2011 23:32

These days in Taxon were short, the sun rising a little before ten in the morning and setting shortly after one in the afternoon. It was also cold and snowy, and combining all of that together it could be difficult to find anything worth celebrating. Fortunately, there were some individuals intent on making making sure there was still warmth, that ( Read more... )

Of note: one bottle of wine - unlabeled but clearly a red - was left corked. In front of the bottle was a note written in a hand which managed to be both sloppy and precise at once:This is a bottle of Dionysian wine, gifted to me by Hermes who used to be a prisoner in Taxon. I believe this will be a very potent wine which will cause euphoria and the strong desire to dance. No it is NOT an aphrodisiac, it's not Aphrodisian wine after all.

I'll be opening this around ten pm. Please drink responsibly.

At some point, Jenna would notice the wine bottle and make her way over. She could use a good drink at this point. Reading the note, she nods to it and will definitely be asking for a glass when it's opened, whenever that ends up being, 10pm or not.

"Cheers."

And in about half an hour, she will be completely hammered.

Aside form the cravat and...orange suede shoes, Glitch's outfit is a bit on the reserved side. He'd tried to make up for it with the liberal application of glitter to his cheeks and a little something to make his eyelashes pop. It's a holiday, going a little over-the-top is encouraged.

As co-host he'll be wandering around, greeting people, and reassuring them that he really actually is fine and that the whole dying thing is in the past and all of that. Eventually he'll get into the Dionysian wine, but first there is dancing and the giving of gifts to be accomplished.

She may be a thief (whose reasoning for attending parties usually had to do with stealing from the host), but Gwen has her manners. It's why she seeks out the hosts not long after her arrival.

The fact that one-half of said hosts was recently deceased definitely doesn't slow her down.

She approaches him from the front with little surprise or sneakiness. Just with a bottle of champagne with a little red bow around it. Simple, but classy. Always a good choice.

"Glad to see you're alive and kicking," she greets him, albeit a little pleasantly distracted by all the glitter.

Ha! It's funny cuz he's a ninja and that time he died it was cuz he kicked a hole in the ground and-- wait, no, it's not funny. Still, Glitch laughs because hey, it's that girl he sort of cursed with horrifying ugliness in exchange for what she wanted most of all in the world.

This won't be awkward at all.

"And glad to see you're--" Nope, can't joke about it. "Here, for this occasion." Okay, in lieu of jokes there can be honesty. "Okay, you look fantastic and that is...some dress."

Seriously, he's impressed, there'd be three snaps in a Z formation if he had the pop culture to back it up.

Because Gwen doesn't mind watching him squirm, she says:

"Yeah. I guess the last time you saw me I looked...different." The tiny little smirk forming there is proof enough there are no hard feelings, but she continues, "Thanks for that, by the way."

And if there is a lesson to be learned from all that garbage, it's that she'd rather not look like she crawled out of a swamp.

Nine days out of ten, Cain keeps himself well within the borders of practicality even when it comes to clothes. It isn't that he doesn't care or can't be bothered, but he simply doesn't need the stress. So, nine days out of ten, he dresses plainly, all prim and proper.

This might be considered that tenth day, because he can't remember the last time he celebrated the end of the annual, but he can very vividly remember one cold winter, when the Mystic Man gave him a ridiculously elaborate coat (by Wyatt's standards), 'that you may remember whimsy isn't a bad thing in the coming annual - and neither is a bit of vanity'.

With Glitch's help, he found an Extra tailor who didn't mind the rush job, and tonight he's dressed...to celebrate his past, and perhaps not leap into the future, but walk into it with a lighter step than the past annual ( ... )

Sure, go on, blame the zipperhead.

The cravat is already loosened a bit when Glitch...okay, the only applicable adjective is grooves on over, a medium-sized gift bag swinging in his hand.

"Hi!" he declared with a grin. "Can I say again that the coat came out fantastic? Cuz it did."

At least they both already know Glitch wasn't joking about his innate sense of rhythm and soul. It brings a smile to Cain's lips, swiftly followed by a slightly self conscious smirk.

"Thanks. I just need to stop fidgeting and start loving the glitter dust, huh?"

Glitch waggles his fingers (his nails, it must be noted, have also been painted with golden glitter) and grins.

"No one is going to be able to escape, soon it will be everywhere." There's a sort of manic glee there, as he is clearly in his element. "I'm glad we actually went through with this, it's...okay, it's spectacular."

Kobra isn't really a party-goer, but the last few weeks had been so shitty that any excuse was good enough to get drunk, maybe see his brother and talk to him. And Jet. Kobra hadn't exactly been sociable and he refused to be the one to give in first.

Wearing his usual black boots and jeans Kobra had at least changed into a new shirt, a grey hoodie and a grey coat. He was still freezing, even as he entered the building, looking around dubiously. He wasn't good at socialising and this didn't appear anything like the hyper thrust or the gigs he'd been to in the zones, where it was easy to just fall into the crowd and forget everything for a little while.

Fidgeting with the sleeves of his coat Kobra made for the nearest corner to stand in and observe everything before deciding where to go or if there was anyone around to talk to.

There was a time when a party like this would be full of people to get lost in but, well...time's have changed. At least there's still people around to chat with.

"'Ello 'ello 'ello," Fitz greeted and walked over, gin and tonic in hand. "Good to see you somewhere where socializing might happen. How are you feeling?"

Kobra looked up and gave Fitz a tiny smile. "Hey," he mumbled, rocking a little on the balls of his feet, clearly not at ease in these surroundings. "I'm...I'm all right. How're you? We still gotta get together for a jam sometime," he reminded Fitz with a smile.

Just the kid with a capital k Wyatt had hoped to see. He made a quick detour to the office cabinet then approached the younger man with a small parcel under his left arm.

"Hey, Kid. I was hoping you'd make an appearance."

The night sky hologram thing was pretty cool and Jenna had to admit that... maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that she'd decided to come. Both Elena and Caroline would have dragged her if they'd been there to do the dragging, so she figured she may as well live up to their memories and go without being dragged. Besides, it was a party. Who was she if she needed to be dragged to a party?

In a short, sleeveless wine-colored dress, she got there early and would be standing semi-close to the drinks table for a time, while meandering around the rest of it. She was looking for people she knew, people to thank for being there for her, etc. The New Year would bring a lot she was sure... but she hoped there would be good times in among them.

Good times and drinks and a short skirt? Boom, Fitz is zeroing in. He's...dressed a bit like Dallas Strongs in a purple crushed-velvet suit, but the black button-down shirt with large purple polka dots is sans ruffles.

He greets Jenna with a toothy grin. "Hello, love, you look smashing. Happy new year!"

Only Fitz could pull off a suit like that. Jenna's grin is a mild wide when she spots him walking towards her. "Thanks. Nice suit. Looks like we both dressed for the same party." They apparently both got the same color dress code memo. "Have I missed much yet?"
