It's the smell of coffee that he finds comforting, an oddity, of course, but truth. He doesn't trust the hatches, either. Which is probably why he's on his way back from an actual store, making a point to beeline to every cafe he can. He needs more hair dye--and honestly? He thinks Taxon would have a problem if he dyes his the old fashioned way, with koolaid and blood.
Taxon seems to have a problem with him anyway, it seems, and his thoughts are interrupted by a familiar blonde. Not quite familiar, but he can't help the almost-smile on his face. It doesn't even occur to him that the only time Beth's seen him was when he was calling himself Gerard and had dyed his hair back to black.
"Look Alive, Sunshine." Allow Party Poison to step into line with Beth. "Haven't heard your chatter on the tablets. Got off the gridd for a reason?"
Someone fell into step with Beth and immediately started talking. She looked over to see who it was, a short list considering she only knew a few people in Taxon, and the surprise made her stop in her tracks. Her eyes widened as she examined the man in front of her, "...Gerard? Is that you? You look...different."
She then forced herself to look away, answering his question, "I think I realized I was using the tablet more to bother everyone with my questions than to be social, so I stopped talking. But I'm starting to come out of my shell again." Or she was getting over the shock of being in Taxon, and was once again able to use her social skills to help her investigate in a manner that was more subtle.
"Hey." Party had stopped walking, even so far as to grab her by the shoulder, though not at all roughly. More of a 'listen up,' and the gaze was more than that. Steely, determined. Full of passion he practically screamed 'I dare you to question em on this,' jaw set, free hand tight.
"Listen up, motorbaby. You could be a ladyjoy or a junkpunk for all I care, but if you're runnin' around with rickety bones and you're callin' me by some stupid name like Gerard? You got another thing coming. My name's Party Poison, christened by the sands themselves. Party's fine."
Yup, he's back, and desperately hiding the fact that he's used his real name. But in a few more seconds he's walking.
"That was me bein' glitched. You know, personality all different." He clears his throat, loudly, and looks up at the blonde girl, sticking his hands in his jacket. "How you holdin' up in Taxon?" And, perhaps a little clumsily: "Y'know..With mick bein'..Grrrrr, arrrrgh."
Beth wasn't going to pretend she understood more than every other word of that; still, she got the gist. Like Mikey, he had been glitched. Whoever was in charge of the city had changed him---his personality, his thoughts and actions. And it clearly upset him, not that she could blame him. She had managed to avoid being glitched so far, but just the idea of it terrified her. To walk around looking like Beth Turner, but no longer being Beth Turner, to have everything inherent about her changed...
She followed after Party Poison, hoping to learn more. Of course, she knew how far she could push the conversation. And she also knew that it was a matter of give and take. Beth shrugged as she answered his question, "As good as can be expected. And Mick... well, he was 'grrr arrrrgh' back home, too. I just...want to make sure that, even though he's here, he can still be the man he wants to be. And I'm going to do everything I can to help him be just that."
