009 ♠ [VISUAL] ♠ Unwelcome Morning After

Sep 05, 2011 22:08

[ Puck appears on the tablet's screen, looking rather worse for wear and green about the gills. It's pretty obvious that he's hungover... or perhaps still a bit drunk. His voice is scratchy when he tries to speak and so there's a couple minutes of him clearing his throat, which is good since he doesn't exactly know what to say ( Read more... )

What sort of guitar is it?

[ these are the important details, as far as Fitz is concerned. ]

Blimey, that's a lovely machine, I'll have to remind m'self to give it back to you should I find it. Any chance you recall where you left it?

[ Puck is amused, but in a good way, so his reply is good-natured. ]

Damn right you'd better.

Not really. I woke up across the city in somebody's patio lounge. It was... a hell of a night.

I have not seen an unattended guitar in the city, no. Should I come across it, I will certainly let you know. An interesting night, I take it?

Yeah thanks.

[ an unsuccessfully muffled groan

I don't think everything I drank last night was from Earth... or that all of it was even alcohol.

Let us hope you did not ingest motor oil or something similar. Should you perhaps see a doctor?

"That's all you're missing?"

Wasn't he lucky? Drusilla had lost so much more. There were holes in the city were people used to be. A hole in chest that her Daddy should have been able to fill, too, though time had lessened the ache of that. Just a little. She knew that she'd find him again. She didn't need to read the stars - not that the false stars of Taxon told her anything worthwhile - to know that they were tied together. Like the tide. Like the sun and the moon.

"It's the only thing I care enough to inquire about," is the intentionally cryptic reply. Despite that, he averts his eyes from the screen when he answers.

Drusilla liked riddles, even if the answer that she reached was often a world away from the answer that other people expected. He couldn't hide from her. His comment was innocuous but his eyes - the way he tried to hide them - told a different story.

"What about people? Didn't you lose any people?"

His jaw clenched slightly. "I told you already: you're all disposable to me."
