It had been a long morning of exploring the newly re-arranged Taxon. Just when she had been starting to get her bearings, of course things would get moved around. Have to keep people on their toes, after all. She had been staying at a hotel in the area since her arrival, but after the Sanctuary episode, it was finally starting to sink in that she ( Read more... )

...I've got some suddenly lakefront property, i-if you don't mind roommates. Actually you probably won't even notice we're there.

[Anita raises an eyebrow. Sweet of him to offer, but doesn't he have any reservations about asking a stranger to live with him?]

Sounds nice, and I appreciate the offer. I'll consider it. I keep odd hours and seem to attract trouble... I wouldn't make a very good housemate.

[ he's is all about the hospitality. plus having another person around might chase some of the (metaphorical) ghosts out; it'd been so quiet since Hercules vanished. ]

I I think "attracting trouble" is one of the prerequisites for getting nabbed to this place, so you're in good company. [ haha, horrors are hi-larious ] Really, though, if ya wanna give it a look it's in Spea- in Wilde.

[You know what? Glitch has been nothing but helpful and polite since she got here. Alright. She'll bite.]

Well, if you don't mind my knack for badness, I'll come take a look at it. When's a good time for you?

"Personally I favor the comfort of hotel lodging," says a polite, British-sounding voice.

"On my initial arrival in the city I was in the Hyperion Hotel; but it seems to be more hotel in name only, as I was the only tenant aside from the hotel's owner. I have relocated to the Carmilla, which is a very charming place. The advantages over an apartment are that one does not need to do the housework."

"You make a good point," Anita admitted, pausing to take a sip of her drink. "I'm not really a fan of housework, but I do like the privacy of an apartment. Makes it a tough call. Hotels have room service and housekeeping, but people are coming and going at all hours."

"Ah, but that is the joy-- well, one of them-- of Taxon," Long said brightly. "At the Carmilla I think I am still the only guest-- that is to say, the only real one, as opposed to the dolls with their routines. And their routines are like clockwork; they do not come and go at all hours.

"The best of both worlds, really: maids, and very very quiet neighbors." A soft little chuckle on the other end of the 'line', then Long cleared his throat.

"Forgive my manners, though. Mayland Long; a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"I hadn't thought about that. The drones, or whatever they are, aren't that bothersome with noise, but..." She didn't want to admit out loud that they creeper her out. She was Anita Blake, Vampire Executioner. Zombie Queen. She had seen things far worse than people who behaved like animated dolls, and yet they made her uncomfortable in a way that zombies never had.

"I'll have to consider that," she summed up before continuing on.

"Anita Blake. Nice to meet you, Mayland. Or do you prefer May?"
