Asher had kept Charlie restrained and weak in the house for days while he learned about where he was. Going back through the tablet's archives explained why the sunlight didn't bother him, it was artificial and lacked the heavy UV component that was so deadly to his kind. He also learned that the replicator hatches could make almost anything. Not ( Read more... )

Asher came upon the finely dressed woman and stood back a little to watch her. The way she dressed reminded him of the time that he and Danica had spent in China in the seventeenth century. Ah, those were the days, no Blade, no annoyances, their familiars terrified into submission, his sister completely insane and wrapped around his finger. He missed those times.

Coming up beside her, he chuckled softly. "This place does produce some interesting locales."

The very unfortunate thing about only having met a person once was that it made it rather impossible to tell when a person was acting entirely unlike themselves. Inara saw a familiar face and nothing more, even if she nearly jumped out of her skin with the silence of his approach. She hadn't realized there was anyone else around at all.

"Oh! Mr. Everton, wasn't it? Hello again..." She said with a chagrined smile, pressing a hand to her chest to still her momentary alarm and calm herself, and then nodded to the forest. "And it does indeed. One has to wonder if these are places like our red dots, waiting for other people to arrive or be drawn out of stasis or whatever is happening here...someone else's personal limbo?"

She tilted her head, referencing their previous conversations on this place without a clue that he wouldn't have any idea what she was talking about.

He had figured out that there was another man there who looked like him. That was who Charlie had thought him, so he might as well use it if other people are going to assume the same thing. "Well, it is an interesting limbo, I suppose. I never was one for mushrooms and fantasy trees, though."

He stepped closer and inhaled deeply. She smelled sweet. Which left him wondering if she would taste sweet. "Shall we go inside and see what other wonders are hiding?"

Three weeks have gone by slowly. Derek has made sure not to be too intrusive into Jack's life while staying at his place - in fact, he's actually managed the last four days in an apartment he found near the centre of the city, not unlike the one he grew up in. That's not to say he's slept well, but the small comfort of something akin to home has helped. He'd rather have someone to stay with, but the first part of that plan, he thinks, requires actually getting to know these people.

Derek's sat on the curb now, playing idly with the settings of his tablet. He's going over in his head what he wants to say, not really paying attention. Almost everybody seems to know somebody, that's the main thing. Derek doesn't know anyone, and that factor has always been a detriment in his life.

When he thinks he hears someone coming, he glances in his direction but otherwise doesn't pay much mind.

Asher came up next to the man fiddling with his tablet and quietly sat down. He leaned over a little to see what he was doing, then cleared his throat. "Anything interesting?"

Derek glanced at him, the sudden invasion of The Bubble making him wary. He tried to shrug it off, though, giving up the fiddling.

"Uhh - not really, I mean - I'm just messing around."

"They are peculiar things, aren't they. They seem to have a mind of their own." He smiled, then leaned back and looked around. "Still, nice day to be outside."

It really was some sort of cruel joke that Hospital itself didn't have any vicodin left inside it. Or maybe it's because he already went through it all. Whatever the case that leads him to leave it to find the nearest replicator hatch for a resupply. Which... by another cruel joke, there are no replicator hatches inside the Hospital.

If he believed in a higher being, he would blame this twist of fate on them. Being that he doesn't, he blames this on poor design by some moronic, blind architect.

It was an all you can eat buffet in this place and he was happily moving from person to person. The man he was approaching now had an interesting odor to him and Asher was eager to get a taste.

He found a wall to lean against and watched House in search of a replicator. This should be very interesting.

Vampires, to the best of House's knowledge, they do not exist.

House stopped when he found a replicator hatch. He hooked his cane over the edge of it while he puts his hand on the hatch to replicate more of what he needs. He does pause, however, a strange feeling... It gives him pause to look around. Having seen nothing he returns to what he's doing.

The cane ensured easy prey. The man was not likely to be running from him. This one, he wasn't feeling like playing friendly. Whatever it was that he smelled he didn't want to waste time before he could taste.

While House was bent to the replicator, Asher moved quickly, appearing right behind him in a split second. He had hands on his shoulders and was pulling at him the moment he stopped moving.
