She's not interested in browsing for clothes or shoes today, but neither does she want to sit in her hotel room and be restless. On a whim she finds herself in the home decor section, admiring ornately framed mirrors and silver candle holders until she comes

[ guess who heard about what her boyfriend's been up to? she also missed everything the broadcast contained up until the very end, so all she sees is katherine running. ]

[ elena is less of a problem right now than damon as far as katherine is concerned, but she still isn't jumping of joy hearing her doppelgänger's voice. but she's determined to keep up appearances for as long as she possibly can with this unfortunate glitch.

her smile may be a touch smug as she recalls exactly what went down between herself and stefan in the zoo not long ago. oh, if only elena knew. katherine has no idea that elena does know. ]

[ oh, elena, your choice of words is another nail in the coffin. that's pretty much exactly how katherine feels, despite the fact that the originals are nowhere close to taxon. ]

What a strange idea. I simply just remembered something urgent that I have to go take care of.

Stefan's voice stirs up conflicting emotions in Katherine. On one hand, she wants desperately to confide in someone who'd possibly understand why she's so anxious and panicked over the mere thought of being human again. Though the Originals are nowhere near Taxon, it doesn't stop the near nauseating fear from niggling at her, the very same she'd felt running through those woods in England all those centuries ago with Elijah closing in on her.

But while she's been buying into Stefan's ploy and playing along with his games, Katherine still finds herself strangely hesitant to reveal the truth (which he may have already guessed if he'd witnessed the entire broadcast) to him.

"Stefan," is all she manages to get out, the waver in her voice surprising even Katherine herself. So much for playing it cool and unaffected.

"No," she blurts, a knee-jerk reaction. More calmly, she adds, "You don't need to come, Stefan, really. Everything's fine."

Well, that last bit is a boldfaced lie and not even a remotely good one, but she's suddenly not so sure she can handle facing anyone in person yet when this startling turn of events is still so recent. She's feeling off-kilter both mentally and physically, desperately wanting to just get back to the hotel and regroup. True, she can't stop Stefan from seeking her out, but she can try to persuade him not to.
