Xander's basement is far from a pleasant place, but it is somewhat less metallic and plus, there is Xander and juice boxes and she's pretty sure from the way he'd been staring at her that he was going to end up engaging in coitus with her, except now he's gone

[ wow, okay, another familiar face from the not-so-distant past. ]

...Anya?

She breathes a sigh of relief; she'd been on the lookout for any sign of anyone else and thank goodness the place seems deserted, for now. Good thing Cordelia got to Anya first before the Master did, at any rate.

"Uh, yeah. Thanks." Cordelia holds out the clothes she'd hatched - a simple dress with a sash, that's rather unflattering to anyone's figure, but hey, at least it's decent. And clothes.

"Why are you naked, anyway?" She has a theory, but hey - better hear it from the lady herself.

Anya slips the dress on before answering. "I was going to have sex with Xander. I thought it was a good way to help me get over him. I was convincing him to try it." She frowns. "Please tell me it's possible to get better clothing."

Cordelia covers her mouth to stifle her laughter - but fails at it anyway. "Right. Because one surefire way of getting over someone is sleeping with them." For a few seconds, Cordelia actually misses Xander - he'd been in Taxon when she arrived, and was sent home only to be back and disappear again after a few months.

Except now, it seemed like he was really gone for good.

"Yes, very much possible." Her amusement dissipates as she remembers the very possible danger they could both be in. "But I suggest we get out of here, first." Cordelia thinks about bringing Anya to her apartment, but changes her mind quickly - better take her to the hotel, for now.

"You ready?"

Anya shrugs. "It seems to work for men." She's talked to many women who had men following them around declaring devotion up until the moment she allowed him in her bed. It seemed worth a shot. "Also, I really, really wanted to."

She almost considers asking Cordelia if she's all right with it. She knows the two of them dated. But Cordelia would probably have said something. She nods. "Yes, let's go."

"That's because some men are dogs. They very rarely think with their brains." Not all men, thankfully - and it seems like those in her LA group are exempted from this seemingly innate trait in men. Mostly.

Cordelia leads the way to the train station. It was faster and healthier, considering they could get at the hotel quickly lest Harold Saxon is vested in following Anya around. They arrive in Speares, and make their way to the Hyperion Hotel.

She opens the door to the lobby. "You can stay here for a while," Cordelia offers. "Angel owns this place but I doubt he'll mind. Or if he does, I'll just talk him out of minding it."

She nods, walking in and looking around. "Nice place. Buffy's Angel? Or someone else?"

"Angel's Angel, thank you. He's his own person, in case you didn't notice." She can't help but snap, but Cordelia reigns in her irritation because technically that really was how Angel was identified by almost everyone in Sunnydale: Buffy's Angel. "But... yeah. Same guy, give or take a few social skills."

Anya shrugs. "I can't say I've noticed anything about him seeing as I've never met him. Are you sure he'll be all right with me staying here?"

She waves that away. "Trust me. It's totally fine, since we have like a million rooms. Although, if you want I think you can also stay in Buffy's castle? You have to ask her about it, though, considering, well, it's her castle."

Anya glances at her in surprise. "Buffy has a castle? Why does Buffy get a castle? Is it a Slayer thing?"

"Actually it's a 'future' thing. As in it happens in yours and my future, which happens to be Buffy's present." Cordelia goes to sit on the red couch in the lobby. "Guess you're in for a few surprises, since most of the other people here are ahead of us."

"That sounds annoying. I wonder if I get my powers back in the future and get to rain bloody vengeance upon the scum that is most men." She pauses to consider. "Or if Xander and I get married and have plump babies. Either would be nice."

She wanders over to the counter and checks curiously to see if anyone's there. Then she turns around and asks, "So what's the story with the Harold man?"

Cordelia has no ready answer for that. How does one say, 'actually, Xander's going to fall in love with Buffy's sister at some point in the future' to a woman determined to have sex with the said guy? So Cordelia does the smart thing: focus on something else entirely.

She crosses her arms. "He's bad news. Way bad. I don't know why he volunteered to get you-- can you tell me what he said to you, exactly?"

Considering as far as Anya knows, Buffy has no sister, that's probably wise.

"I don't remember exactly. He asked my size and told me things would be all right and that he'd help me find Xander, though if he's not here, I don't know how he intended to do that."

"I doubt he even knows who Xander is," Cordelia says, shaking her head. "He's probably trying to get you to trust him, though - which, in and of itself, is dumb. If you value your life? Don't."
