The communications system flickers on and displays a man wearing a drab, dusty taglemust but with a recognizable sword buckled at his hip. After a moment of surprise, he skims over a few notes on his tablet before unveiling his face to speak: "My alternate has left notes for me to read, but I would prefer a more reliable source of information."

"Doul, you're back." Godric looks happy about it, but not overly happy. He had been fond of En-Doul. He's just equally fond of the usual Doul.

"He told me very little. The Brucolac expanded some on what he did say, but not by much, and I didn't pry." He does look a little amused at the description of this diatribe. It gives him a mental picture of En-Doul signing rapidly to his annoyed counterpart.

"Good. Although he did say that he rather strongly suggested that I ought to be put down as soon as possible. Other than that, he was appropriate toward you and the Brucolac?" Doul would really rather not have to make up for his alternate's distinct lack of social grace unless he absolutely has to.

Godric can't help but chuckle. The En-Doul in his head is now signing at Doul, scolding him for being alive.

"He didn't offend me, nor did he offend the Brucolac, as far as I'm aware."

"I'm glad he kept his manners around you, but it's a shame he didn't find a way to bother the Brucolac," he wryly replies. "And I do wonder how he'll fair now that we're each back in our respective lands. I was well on my way into Tesh when I was pulled back here."

"Oh, he may have. Only not in my presence." His tone is equally wry.

"It's difficult to say how any of us fare, those of us who are returned home." He goes a little distant at that, but recovers quickly.

"It is unknowable, but I hope my alternate experiences a least a little of the world before he's shut away underground." Or before he's killed. For some strange reason, the Dead are not welcomed outside of High Cromlech. "And speaking of experience, what else have to planned to do during your glitch?"

Godric's smile fades.

"I don't know. I've spent most of my glitch either adjusting or recovering. I haven't had much time to consider experiences beyond the necessary."

"Come hunting with me." The only real experience that Doul can offer is to go do something reckless, dangerous, and probably throughly enjoyable.

That idea has more appeal than it reasonably should. But hunting is something that will always resonate with Godric, no matter what species he is, and now that it's been proposed, nothing sounds better.

"Yes."

And there is one of Doul's rare, honest smiles. He suspects that Sookie and the other humans of Taxon will encourage Godric to try the more ephemeral pleasures of life, but Doul knows that one of the most precious parts of living is frailty and danger.

"Let me know when you wish to go, and I'll be there."

"Why not now? Unless you had other plans?" There's no time like the present, after all. Godric is healthy and unoccupied and there's no telling when the glitch might wear off. If Doul has more questions, they can speak while they walk.

"None that can't wait." His ribs are still bound, but other than that, he's generally uninjured. "We'll need to hatch spears, and a knife for you, unless you're already armed?"

"I'm not, but as you say, that can be easily remedied. What shall we hunt?" His bowl of fruit is now empty and he finds the thought of hunting has given him new energy. He's ready to be on their way.

"There's small game, deer, and boar in the forest. I've asked the hamsters for something a little more challenging, but that's yet to appear." Although he's working on it. Next -- horses and dogs. "If you feel confident, we could take a boar."

Boar. One of the deadliest of forest game, one which has claimed the lives of countless hunters over the centuries. It sounds like just the sort of challenge he needs. Eric would have a fit if he found out, and might even go so far as to keep Godric from going by force. All the more reason to go now.

"I'm confident," he replies, smiling.
