It's still a little weird to look at Jayne's face and have it not actually be Jayne, but at least not-Jayne is less likely to talk about whores during times of personal emotional crisis.
"Un-kidnapped." Wow, her knees are just fascinating today. "My boyfriend went home."
There's a look of stunned surprise on Casey's face at her news. "So there's a way out of here? To get back home? We're not stuck here forever?"
Then he realizes what that means to the girl sitting on her bed looking devastated. "Damn, that's gotta...sorry. Why'd he go without taking you with him?"
Sometimes, Kara really hates her heroic instincts. If someone is in trouble or hurting, she just wants to fix it. But this is someone she's never met before and talking to someone who's upset is awkward enough when you know them, much less when you don't. She feels like she should say something, though, so with a weak smile she offers a quiet: "Are you okay?
"Wait, that's a stupid question. ...I've been thinking of making an alien hamster-shaped punching bag. If you want to, y'know, take a whack at it or something. Might help?" Cue incredibly awkward facial expressions.

When Dawn's transmission appears on Buffy's tablet, she doesn't waste time with responding that way, instead simply walking the short distance to Xander's room. Well, Xander's old room now. The room that used to be Xander's.
She doesn't say anything (what could she possibly say to make this better?) and just sits down on the bed next to Dawn, putting an arm around her. She's not crying yet, but the lid on those tears is a pretty flimsy one.
