Training Sam Winchester has been kind of a bitch. Ruby hasn't been able to get any viable reaction out of him since she ambushed him and pushed him to the edge of death which was kind of pathetic when she thought too hard about it. Spade is watching, interested, but he doesn't interrupt. Not yet, at least. Part of him doesn't want to interrupt because he doesn't want to upset what she's doing, but more of him is interested to see how long it takes her to notice she's been watched.

It's not a test, not exactly, but it would be information Spade would be interested in knowing.

It's not until she's finished, and already irritated thanks to the Doctor's lovely interruption. Ruby, however, feels much better -- probably looks a lot healthier, too, once she's all packed up and grabbing the tablet.

And there goes the bowl. Ruby hisses a curse through her teeth, sticking to the Sumerian she'd just been chanting moments before. She doesn't turn to address the tablet, just picks up the bowl and tries to salvage what she can of the ingredients.

Sam watches Ruby while she works her magic, hiding in the shadows and waiting. At first he suspects she's doing something evil then he notices the marked difference between her before and after the spell. He shoves away from the wall and walks slowly into the room.

"Should we ease up on training for a little while?"

Yes he's actually concerned. It goes back to that whole abandonment thing.

Ruby almost jerks at the voice, but forces herself to still and turn as fluidly as she can manage given that she just let herself be caught. By Sam.

"Aww, getting scared again?" She holds her ground and crosses her arms, affecting an impatient stance. "Seriously, Sam, I know you're a big soft teddy bear but it'd be nice if you'd at least try to grow a pair."
