The feed cuts on to display that nosy, scar-faced vampire again. He's standing in some sort of dimly-lit steampunk wet dream, surrounded by wheels and levers and pulleys, one hand on each of two large nautical steering wheels, one vertical, one horizontal ( Read more... )

I'm not coming, so don't look for me, if you were gonna think of it.

You have your holdings to defend, I understand. I will be looking, however, so if this fucker's really done us over, send up a signal and I'll swing down. A stand is a stand, but this is not worth getting killed for. Not yet.

Also, I can drop this ship into the lake, fill her holds with water, and fly it all back out to dump over the city as needed, so keep that in mind.

I'm trying to find him and stop him. I don't know if I can, but--I'm not fucking sitting on my ass waiting to die, either. You know what radiation is? Fuck--there's no reason you should, and I hope he's fucking bluffing, but if those things go off--

Maybe even your ship isn't going to save anybody.

Not in any detail, but I know the theory. If there is a chance that being up and out of the city could help, better that then a certainty of death on the ground.

Judith, this man has determined that it is better to die than to stay here prisoner. He has made this choice for all of us, and he believes he is doing what is morally right to the point that he is willing and able to kill all of us. We must assume that this is true, and investigate whether or not he can actually do so. If you are going to confront him, appealing to his reason, applying social pressure to him is going to do nothing. Appeal to his ego, if you must talk to him directly.

The Doctor appears, still in the wasteland of Taxon.

"Rutgen radiation is present in about half of the bombs. It'll damage your flight deck's coolant system and cause that to explode, too. Actually. I think I've got a bit of it right around here, do you want to see?"

The vampire grins and chuckles drily in his raspy voice.

"You have no fucking idea how my fat beauty works, just like you have no fucking idea how the city or its creators work. I wish you luck with the second, leave me to mind the first."

...This is not to say that the Brucolac understands the first thing about rutgen radiation, because he does not. The words 'flight deck' and 'coolant system', however, he is certain about and utterly disdainful of.

"Well, maybe not," the Doctor says. "But I don't see a ship here."

"If you would like to see a ship, I invite you to look up at the fucking sky. Otherwise, what the hell are you talking about?" The viewscreen goes dark and then light again as the Brucolac moves around in the Uroc. Mooring procedures, etc.

I can't show up immediately, but are you planning on doing rescues if anyone doesn't get on board on time? I'm gonna be down here providing medical treatment after if it's necessary.

I won't be flying it into an inferno, but I will do what I can. Where will you be?

Dunno yet. My car ain't what I'd call big, and I don't know what the streets will be like, but I'll find a way to bring survivors to you when I round 'em up; you can pick the landing point when we know what's still in one piece. Thanks for this, though.

Once on board, is there a way to get off the ship? Or will you sealing it somehow? Not--permanently, but for the duration.

Gravity is extremely reliable, but I will also be able maneuver as seems most appropriate, and throw out ropes and such. There's a private airship in the hold, but I can't speak to its reliability right now.

I can handle a rope, thank you. There'll be two of us, then, I'm just not going to stay. Although your hospitality is appreciated.

I'm going to be straightforward, though we don't know one another: I planned on installing safe-zones across the city, but a ship the size of yours can provide more significant housing, and furthermore more distance.

I can handle the radiation, with help placing the devices. [...she's pretty sure. She hopes.] I just need a space beyond my apartment.

More housing, and maneuverability as well - if you can guarantee her protection, I can sail her to help the stranded as needed.

Space, space, I have it. Can you get here quickly?

Yes. Do you have means of installing several of the force field projectors to the exterior of your ship? You'll need at least twenty.

Yes. How do they- well, you'll show me when you get here, I assume.
