Fred's eyes widen to saucers as she sees the broadcast. "Um-!" ...sadly, that's about all she has to say about it. She likes this guy, really well, but she's not exactly looking forward to being blown up.
Oh, Fred. Since he's actually met her, the Doctor really likes her. She's just the right level of smart and curious for him to really like her. He can't help but smile at her words.
"Do you think anyone would've let me work on them, then? Three thousand bombs can't be built in a day."
The Doctor sets his jaw. "It's the only option we have. They won't communicate with us, they won't let us go, and we're trapped here. We have to do something."
... And so you decide that killing all of us is the best course of action. [headdesk] I've been under the impression that the aliens think of this as a giant science project. If we all die, whose to say they won't just bring in a new set of people?
"Can you think of any other options, Dr. Sato?" the Doctor asks. It should be a rhetorical question, but he sounds almost like he's begging for some other choice.
"They're not going to let us go," he says. "It's either give them a reason to listen or stay. And we haven't got any bargaining chip besides ourselves."
Since when have 'escape plans' involved killing an entire community? Are you truly expecting our captors to be so benevolent as to prevent it from happening? They can clearly recreate our situation and merely bring others in.
The Doctor lets out an irritated sigh. "I'm glad that you have some sort of intense knowledge of what our captors want, but I think the important thing to remember is that they're scientists. And scientists don't want to lose years worth of work in a heartbeat because they can't give their little sprigtails a quick chat."

"I just...wasn't exactly planning on being blown up today, that's all," she replies. "You couldn't have warned any of us?"
