[the audio function on the tablet clicks on and at first, there's no voice - just the mechanical sounds of machines whirring and a few buttons being pressed. after a few moments, a female voice comes over the airwaves, singing softly to herself. the voice is well-trained, but it's obvious she's got no idea that anyone can hear her.]

[ And because Xander is a kind soul, and well-versed in tablets switching on of their own accord, he clears his throat discreetly to make Uhura aware that people are listening. ]

It sounded great, but I figured you probably weren't looking to share with the world-- not that you shouldn't. Because of great.

[ laughs. ]

Thank you. Not like I haven't sang in public before, but it's usually for an audience in more formal settings.

[ by now, she realizes she's been broadcasting, and while she's not exactly thrilled about it, she knows it could be worse. ]

Not really a secret anymore, is it? Maybe I should be singing Express Yourself.

"It would be inaccurate to say that I do not enjoy listening to your voice," said Spock, stepping on to the bridge, "But I do not believe you intended to broadcast your performance throughout Taxon."

Spock had been in the transporter room, carefully reviewing the transport logs in another unsuccessful attempts to understand the limitations placed on the equipment by their captors. When he had heard Nyota's familiar voice on the tablet, he had elected to momentarily abandon his work and inform her of the post she had made.

"I didn't," she replied, giving him a bright smile as she removed her earpiece and stood to greet him. "But it could have been worse. I could have been singing Britney Spears."

She strode over to where he stood and reached for his hand, still smiling. "At least people seemed to enjoy my voice. It's been a while since I've sang, I worried that I was getting rusty."
