Max had never been to Peter's family mansion before, but it didn't take her too long to find out where it was. (The map helped.) She sped on her bike from the Sanctuary for All to the mansion, eager to see him and discuss what Magnus had told her as soon as possible.
She parked in front of the building, dismounting and striding up to the front door. She hit the doorbell and knocked for good measure - from the looks of things, she'd have to make some noise to guarantee that Peter would actually be able to hear her.

Peter opened the door right as she was about to go at the second round of knocking. He offered a bit of a smile and raised eyebrows. So much for letting herself in. Of course, she hadn't been to the mansion. Not to mention it was his mom's and Nathan's more than his.

In truth, she'd been in such a rush to get there that the text granting her permission to let herself in had been forgotten. She remembered it then, when he'd given her the raised eyebrow smile, and felt a little embarrassed. She forgot it quickly, though and smiled at him, a little forced. "Hi."
She'd been relieved to hear that the virus hadn't mutated and wouldn't be effecting anyone else, especially him, but she hadn't forgotten the messages that the runes had been translated into. About hidden power and the meek inheriting the earth, about being created for some big plan that she'd never been clued into. About how everyone who'd told her there was something special about her had been right.
She really hadn't wanted them to be.
A deep breath was let out in a shaky exhale, and she reached forward, wrapping her arms around him tightly.

It wasn't that he didn't like hugs. Peter loved giving hugs, and receiving them from certain parties. It was the fact that it seemed so out of the blue that bothered him. He pulled back slightly to look at her face. What upset her this time?
