Gabriel wasn't sure exactly why he had been avoiding his shop. All he knew was that he woke up in the middle of the night with the realization that he hadn't been back there in weeks, and most of the clocks would have run down several times over by now. That simply wasn't acceptable. He really should have been taking better care of his

The bell above the door rings, just as she remembers it, and she as she walks inside, there's a brief flash of memory, the reflex of using her power to fry a rope hanging from the ceiling -
She shakes her head, pushing it out of her mind, and that's when her gaze settles on him, busily settling down to work.
"Is this a bad time? I can come back later."

Nevertheless, she too had her reasons to feel anxious.
"No, I don't mind," she promised, taking a seat in the chair he'd pulled out for her and leaning forward to look down at the clock he was beginning to work on.
"If I'd known you were planning on working so hard, I would've brought lunch."
It was almost too easy for her to fall back into the rhythm from so many years ago. Too easy, and it scared her a little.

After a few gears were realigned, Gabriel glanced up at Elle over his glasses, offering her a slightly hesitant smile, "How are you settling in?" He asked, a quiet concern in his tone. He only...remembered half their conversation when she arrived. He didn't know why there were parts of it missing from memory, but he could remember at least that she was mad at him. For what or why, he couldn't recall, but the anger was very clear. He could only wish that that had faded by now.
"Are things...better?" Gabriel asked. God, he wished he could remember what had been wrong, what he'd done wrong.

"Well--"
He stopped mid-sentence and stared. Not in a repulsed or negative manner, unless shock was suddenly negative. The clothes looked like Sylar but... those glasses defiantly weren't him. Well, that wasn't true. He had them just never wore them. Except that one time in the future when he was actually Gabriel, not Sylar. Though he realized he had been quiet for a good few moments and almost expected his mother to show up and slap him with her glove.
"--Gabriel?"
Yeah, that sounded smart, Peter. It was obviously Gabriel Gray.

He's been spending time relaxing and hanging out with Cassie, River and Dexter, but he's been worrying about things that he feels like he should be doing. Like asking Sylar for more lessons. He's not sure if the offer extended past the glitch, but there's no harm in asking, and so he'd resolved to eventually get around to asking. In fact, the night before, as he'd put his projects away safely, he'd promised himself he was going to contact Sylar.
Of course, the sight on his tablet? It looks like Sylar. But then again, Codex looks like Penny, and Mal looks like Captain Hammer. Billy's not entirely sure who is who anymore.
With a hesitant look, Billy runs a hand through his hair, attempting to make himself look presentable, and then picks up his tablet.
"Sylar?"

"Gabriel," Gabriel said after a moment, laughing nervously as he raised a hand to rub the back of his neck sheepishly. "I really should have told you that last time, Billy. Must have completely slipped my mind. I don't know what could have possibly possessed me to make me forget my own name."
"How are you doing, kid?" Gabriel asked, grinning at the other man. "Now that you're not shackled to someone."

Billy isn't exactly sure how to respond to this. Whoever this is, it's not Sylar, even though it looks like him and sounds like his voice. But then again, he seems to know Billy. Maybe it is him, but he's being watched? Or it is him, and he's hit his head against something? Maybe Billy shouldn't push it. So, awkwardly, Billy scratches the back of his neck and huddles up into his hoodie, comfortable in his huge, squishy armchair he'd substituted his bed for.
"Uhm, yeah. Sorry... Gabriel." That sounds so weird to say. "We were kind of busy with other stuff at the time."
The grin on Gabriel's face is rather infectious, though, and Billy finds himself smiling a bit back.
"I'm alright. I've been working on my wea-- projects."

Splitting his attention between the tablet and the clock that was in front of him, Gabriel pushed his work glasses farther up on his nose, the magnifying lenses catching at odd angles and making his face look a bit skewed as he bent down over the piece in front of him. "Sorry that I haven't said anything since. Didn't want you to think that I'd ditched you or anything, but I've had my hands full getting a few old friends settled in and adjusted to this situation," Gabriel said, sparing a glance over at the tablet before looking at the mess in front of him. "Not to mention trying to catch up on my own work."
Even if it was hardly as interesting as what Billy was working on.

Well, it definitely wasn't Spock, but it didn't look much like Sylar, either. Not the one she knew, anyway.
"This is a new look for you, isn't it?"
Reply
"What makes you think that?"
Though, answering a question with a question wasn't exactly the best manners.

Then again, she knew he was a very good actor.
"I've never seen you wear glasses, for one thing," she finally said, still sounding a tad suspicious. "Are they new?"
