006: [Location: Hyperion Hotel] Like the Prom, Only with Legal Alcohol Supply

Party time!

Cordelia, clad in her chosen outfit for the night, made final rounds inside the hotel to make sure everything was perfect. The decorations were subdued and classy - thanks to both Dawn and Fred, and even the garden was opened so that those who wished to step out and inhale the fake Taxon air could do so. There were tons of wine, beer, ( Read more... )

Oh hi there Kirk! Cordelia spots him and approaches, donning her best 'I'm-really-impressed-but-I-won't-tell-you-that' smile.

"Hey!" she says. "You look really... uncomfortable there, soldier."

Okay. Seeing as she knew probably close to zilch about soldiers and captains and stuff? Cordelia would let that comment pass.

"What can I say? I'm all for the presentation of opportunities. Also? You really need to relax. I mean, how can you prove me wrong if you don't smile at least once?" She grinned.

Doyle came rushing down the stairs, one misstep from falling down them really. He'd been trying to button his jacket on the way down but had given up so it was flying open and revealing a deep maroon waistcoat. But undone buttons aside, the tux was in perfect condition. "I'm not late, am I? I hope I'm not late."

Cordelia rolled her eyes. "Come here, you," she said, stepping closer and totally intending on closing that jacket for him. "Things like this? Are as formal as they come. FYI."

Running down the stairs over he was still enough to start buttoning but he stopped when Cordelia stepped closer. "You just mean black tie and not white tie, right? I suppose I could hatch a tailcoat quick, like, but I've never felt comfortable in the things."

"You look fine, genius," she replied, shaking her head. "Stop worrying, okay! I mean, here's my stamp of approval. Go as you please with it.

Cordelia grinned at him.

Don't let it be said that Dexter doesn't clean up well, even though his snazziness is accessorised by a look of discomfort. He has no problem socialising, really. Bring it on! But he's cursed with feeling like a total dork in every kind of un-him clothing ever, so don't worry when he walks in looking kind of shifty and unconsciously adjusting his glasses a little too often.

Oh god. There's barely anyone here. Jeez, Dexter, nobody ever shows up to parties on time except you.

"Hi?"

Good-looking men looking uncomfortable. It really doesn't make any sense.

"Hey!" Cordelia greets, and she will be totally grabbing Dexter's arm to usher him further into the hotel. "Told you you'll look divine in a tux."

Grabbed! Dexter lets Cordelia lead him in, mouth open as he thinks of a response to that.

"Je -- divine? Really? That's good news."

"Totally, I have a habit of tossing poorly-clothed people out that door. You don't see me tossing you out, do you?"

The Hyperion was Fred's home, her place of safety, she should be more comfortable here than anywhere else in Taxon. Which was totally why she was actually in the same room as many people...even if she was hovering near the entrance to Wesley's office, intent on slipping inside at a moments notice to safely hide away from everything.

But she was trying, at least! And she looked rather pretty, really. Thanks to Cordy's help her hair was up, she had make-up on, and a pretty dress that matched her slightly mousy features. But none of that was makingh er socialize. She'd smile nervously if people looked at her but...that was really about it.

Oh Cordelia would have none of that, Fred! see her walking towards you now, very determined. "Okay. I got you in a gorgeous dress, so might as well make the most out of it. Mingle. And when I say mingle? I mean mingle."

Fred nearly fled when she saw Cordy coming, and it took all she had to hold her ground and smile. "I...well, I'm just not very good at mingling..."

Dawn really did intend to get there early. She did. But there are certain issues with... punctuality, finding her shoes when they're hiding under the bed, the sort. So she's what might be described as fashionably late, in the end.

...Also just fashionable. The hatches: good for cheeseburgers and kettlecorn, better for amazing dresses and shoes.

Cordelia grinned and nodded. Okay, the whole Dawn ensemble? Oh she completely approved.

"Hi!" she said. "Hotel looks great, thanks to you."

The cute clothes thing is pretty much every day, but Cordy said formal. Dawn was just following directions! Also, enjoying the chance to be even taller when compared to Buffy. Hello, four inch heels.

"Thanks!" She smiles excitedly, taking everything in. "I told you tasteful would be my watchword."

Oh, Cordelia bets that Buffy would just hate the height difference even more - at least, until she chooses to wear like eight inches or so?

"Tasteful, very." She glances behind Dawn. "You came in alone?"
