[Cassie sits out on a park bench, watching the extras mingle, their murmured nonsense faint. Her tablet is in one hand, the stylus in the other. She scribbles in an absentminded fashion, humming some Nine Inch Nails to herself quietly. She taps the tip of the stylus to the outer side of the screen, switching out the colors.]

[This would be the sound of a sharply indrawn breath and something that's probably a curse, but not in English.]

You're...a demon?

Half. I'm human on my mother's side. I never met him and she would not say a word about him. I never knew 'til it just popped out one day, in the literal sense. I've got spines, you see. Even when I started showing signs of inheriting things from him she only told me that he was a demon and she wouldn't have ever said anything if I hadn't shown any. I think the silence is pretty damning on how I happened, yeah?

[groan. sounding a little panicked] Great time for the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I didn't want to tell anybody.
