Sam and Dean's grandpa was a fantastic piece of casting IMHO. He was terrific.

I really really loved this episode. With bells on.

Tell me, do you have your ear to the ground Heroes-wise? What's everyone saying about the new season? I watched a couple of eppies last week and got a bit lost in it all and almost nodded off, LOL. It was too much for my brain. I suppose I need to rewatch S2, but I'm not sure I can be arsed.. Are you enjoying it?

In the end, I liked it too. It didn't start well for me but since they didn't go where I was afraid they'd go, it's alright. And Jensen... GOD!

I know right? *claps*

About Heroes, I'm utterly confused too, but I'm utterly enjoying it too. A lot more than S2 so far. I'm revelling in my own confusion.

"You know the worst thing I can think of, the very worst thing, is for my children to be raised into this like I was."

Dean's face after she said that just said it all - tha angst racheted up another notch for me at that point. *g*

Loved the casting of Mitch Pileggi as the grandfather too - it was near perfect, really - and he totally knocked it out of the park, too.

I also had a slight 'ewwww' moment seeing Samuel and Mary kissing to seal the deal, but again, seeing Dean's face as he realised he was unable to stop it chased those thoughts away. So tragic!

Jensen should be either canonized or burned for being so perfect.

Hell yes. He looked freaking amazing, didn't he?! I've seen a few picspams from that ep and they are nothing short of GORGEOUS.

Indeed, he yelloweyed like whoa!

I think Jensen is one of the living proofs that life is unfair. Why would someone so perfectly looking be so perfectly good at acting? *shakes head*

That scene with Mary and the "You look into my eyes, you sonofabitch, coz I'm the one that kills you" were so INTENSE! Whoa.

Therefore, I will assume the "sweet and still believes in happy ever after" means John was compensating or trying to escape the horrors he lived at war.
It shocked me he was so sweet but then I got over it because a) he could be repressing or b) he's not one of those that came back broken. Affected yet but not broken. It happens.

I always liked to idea of Supernatural being the story of an almost normal civilian family who gets thrown in the hunting life by the tragedy of the mother's death.
I agree. I did like this turn of events but I would've been happy if it hadn't happened.

Jensen should be either canonized or burned for being so perfect.
I'm going to with canonized. Wasn't he just awesome?

Sam and Dean's grandpa is Walter Skinner!
I know! I was so excited when I saw the previews. I love this guy!

Oh, yes, and I think he would have been a pretty competent and standard dad if Mary hadn't died. Only, his way of mourning is quite extreme, even for a hunter, and that's why I find it easier to see him as a damaged man from war. Actually, I see John as a half-damaged man, like 50/50. You give him Mary and balance and he's fine. You push him into tragedy and he goes to the bottom of it.

He was awesome. Had the charisma and stature to be Sam and Dean's grandpa and was pitch-perfect as YED. Thumbs up!
