The sound of the door opening is enough to prod the massive figure on the opposite bed into sitting up. It looks around, spots Tavi, and drawls out a friendly sort of "What do you want, runt?"
Max rolls his eyes. "You may have seen the city, but you haven't seen the City. And I am the best guide you could possibly wish for on that front." He beams.
"Of course," Max bulls through the intentional misunderstanding like it's not even there. "But I insured that I was quite well-acquainted with the city here soon after my arrival."
"Of course not. Because it will obviously be all your fault. After all, it's never gone wrong before." As long as you maintain a loose enough definition of "wrong" at least.

"I thought you came from Antillus?" Tavi's very good at deliberately misunderstanding things.

"Just remember, for the record, when this goes horribly wrong somehow that it was your idea, and I just got dragged along," he sighs with a wry smile.
Never mind that, in all likelihood, the actual trouble will be over something Tavi gets the involved in. It's sort of the way of the world.
