Yay, I still have a job. The Anglo part of the Anglo−Australian Observatory will have fully pulled out by 2010, so we had been wondering where the shortfall was going to come from. "% of firms with new products" is an odd metric. Who cares how many firms, as long as there ARE products. And what's a NEW product anyway?
I agree with your general point though: a bunch of over-educated under-performers, probably still living off the sheep's back.
