Monster Movie

Quite possibly the best episode of Supernatural ever was on tonight.  Written by Ben Edlund of Tick, Angel season 5, and Firefly fame, Monster Movie was all in black and white, and took place in Pennsylvania during Octoberfest.  It involved a series of deaths/monsters inspired by classic Universal monster movies.

It is truly a thing of beauty.  ( Read more... )

You doing anything Saturday night in lieu of game? Care for going for food and/or beer? The Pub at Piper's Creek is pretty good and not too busy around dinner time.

I actually got coaxed into doing a Corn Maze thing up north that I blew off last year. I slipped in the mud several years ago, landed square on my back, and had some lingering mobility issues for about a year after.

But this year, it promises to be dryer, and there might be a vaguely date-like element involved. Ok, VERY vaguely, but it's enough to get me out of the house. ;)

catherinew was just commenting about the Pub at Piper's Creek less than a week ago. I'm thinking a visit might be in order. Oh, and Naked City Taphouse opens on the 22nd. I'm heading in for a taster (if they offer them) after write-in on Wednesday. Join me!

We could hit the Pup at Piper's Creek Sunday too. Have I mentioned how free my weekend is? (Oh, you coming to the Meetup on Sunday?)

I'll have to think about Wednesday. I'm always hesitant to go out late on work nights. I get so little sleep these days as it is...

Sunday is my long awaited dinner date with the Divine Miss M. It's been almost 3 months since we've been able to fit an evening date into our respective schedules.

Would beer before the write in be easier? I love a good buzz before sitting down to fictionalize! :D

Very nice work, indeed, if you can get it. I had the privilege of running a workshop on novel plotting, and realized that I did actually have stuff to teach. Maybe, someday, I'll be paid to run that, but in the meantime, just being able to teach is nice.

One of the things I think you might enjoy most out of that particular episode of Supernatural -- There is this wonderful little self-reflective monologue about how a monster, a bad-guy in that universe, could grow up idolizing the old movie monsters. They had a certain class and glamour. Surprisingly poignant.
