Fuck people indeed.

Last week I was working at the vet. A lady comes in, she is carrying a designer handbag. A very expensive one. The dog had one of those stupid, ridiculously expensive dog collars, was poorly trained and had apparently eaten a sock. We took x-rays and there was NO WAY this dog was going to pass this sock. It needed emergency surgery, but the clinic was closing in a half and hour so they needed to go to the emergency clinic.

Emergency surgeries cost upwards of $3000 but that was apparently to expensive for them as they called on Saturday to schedule a surgery for Monday. The dogs entire intestinal tract was blocked by this sock. It would have died. We convinced them to come in right away (we were actually sort of surprised the dog survived overnight) and gave them a payment plan, all because the survival of the dog was too expensive for them.

Worst of all, I already knew they had money (stupid dog collar, designer purse) but I was reading the file and realized I knew the family and there was no way they wouldn't ( ... )
