The Astoria in London is a cavernous space awash in darkness: the floor, ceiling, balcony, railings, bars, stairs, stage are all matte black wood, faded in places to a deep charcoal from age and wear. That is a wonderful description of the venue and I am really pleased you enjoyed the show. The song spamming will commence (and Sylv's offering pretty pictures too :D)

It really was a fascinating and wonderful place to see a gig. It's criminal, really, that it's slated for demolition to make way for stuff for the Olympics. :( I'm so glad I got to see a band there before it was gone.

Shit, I didn't even know that. :( That's the second famous London venue to go in the last few years, after the Hammersmith Palais. Gah.

Yeah, Sylv knew it was on the endangered list, but got confirmation from some others in the audience whilst we were standing around waiting that the papers approving the demolition have been signed and there's nothing that can be done about it at this point. It really sucks ( ... )
