Fruitless link salad

I give up. I cannot find a silver charm bracelet at all, never mind a child-sized one. The only bracelet I even found that had links delicate enough to accommodate the charms was a) kind of a funky style that would look very strange indeed when the clasp was closed on an inner link instead of the end bit (as it would be too large), and b) too ( Read more... )

Well, hell. I wish I had known you were having so much charm bracelet trouble, because making charm bracelets is one of my more fruitful pastimes. Have you ever made jewelry? Because if you have, you probably have all the pliers you would need to fix those bad boys. Even if you haven't, you or your folks might have some nippers and a pair of pliers around.

One thing you could do to avoid that whole "need a smaller link" issue is to chop those charm attachers off and just use jump rings instead. Also, the best luck I've had in finding child-size charm bracelets is looking at thrift shops, where I can generally pick them up for $1-$2. Sometimes they're covered with really ugly charms, but that's not hard to fix.

Yeah, the charm attachers are actually small lobster clasps, and I definitely want to keep them as is because they're good, secure ones but also easy to take the charms off and rearrange them. I didn't know you made charm bracelets! I've done beading and such and do have the small needlenose pliers, but I seriously didn't find anything that was even alterable into being usable except the one expensive bracelet. I'm all right with sending her the necklace instead but I do appreciate the suggestions!

Yeah, that's the problem with using jump rings, lol. The charms are kind of stuck where you put 'em. I make all kinds of jewelry, but I really enjoy charm bracelets. They're almost like secret jewelry because no one but you knows everything that's on them.

Haha, my other problem with the back of my shoulder is that I'd have to wear a strapless bra for at least a week to prevent chafing from the brastrap over the freshly tattooed skin. Uh, no, thanks. LOL.

*cough* You know, I think you're right about that! ;-D
