Well, having used the Mood Theme Editor (which requires you to paste in the URL for every damned mood individually), I am essentially back at square one: some show up, some don't. I have not a clue what else I can do with it. The installation instructions I have are beautifully clear, but were also originally posted 2 years ago by someone I don't ( Read more... )

No worries, dear - it's totally not your fault! I think I'll try shortening the URL and see if that makes any difference. It's just so completely weird that it isn't uniformly working or not working, you know?

No, I followed these instructions, which really are excellently clear, and there's a link at the bottom of the post to a troubleshooting post as well. (Which, had I read more closely, I probably would have tried moving the pix to a different photo album a long time ago - but it baffled me that SOME did work, and not necessarily the ones with the shortest names!). That person also creates moodthemes, so you can browse through what they've got if you'd rather not make your own. Making your own *is* really time consuming - you have to crop and resize everything, 80 wide by 40 tall is the standard pixel measurement. The LJ FAQ apparently does a great job of explaining how to make the actual photos required; Helen made my moodtheme and allowed me to borrow it when she switched to a Daily Show-based one, so I didn't have to do the creating. But, if you use the admin console, and therefore all the available moods, that's 132 of 'em! If you use the Mood Theme Editor, you can do less because several are listed as sub-moods, i.e., a bunch of ( ... )
