So my ficathon was pretty damn obvious. I wanted to do something original, but three days before the final deadline, realized that it wasn't working and couldn't possibly be made to work in time, so why not just write what I'm good at. The other day, Lyttonboy and I were sitting on my couch and I was painting my nails, and then I looked at him, and said: "hey, wanna paint my toenails?" and he looked at me as if I would have just told him that we should pop some pills and dance naked in the street. This is the kind of hilarity that your writing leads to, off-screen.

I didn't even know I wanted a man to paint my toenails until you wrote this gem. I love their intimacy, how at ease they are with each other. And then ending, oh Spirit, the ending. It must be so hard for Ami to be already so sure of her feelings for him and to have to wait to hear his reciprocal verbalised.

Now, of course, you need to tell me all about Sasha and his not being ready to say it. How come?

It was one of the many tiny, insignificant traits about him that she loved--that, most of the time, she did not feel small and helpless beside him, as she did around someone like Neil or Kain. Oh Ami. I can understand why she would find Neil in his exuberance and Kain in his Kain-ness intimidating. ( ... )

Ahahaha poor Lyttonboy! To be fair to Lyttonboy, Sasha is the most metro man ever (is it still metro if the guy is genuinely not straight?), and he is also a painter and stage costumer. He started painting her toenails, and since she would never do them herself, he just does it regularly now. Otherwise they would chip and look nasty and what would people think of him if he let his girlfriend go out with chipped toenail polish?

Sasha has a history of self-destructive relationships. See: Jaden and Sam. He's great with initial hookups, and then he gets clingy and dramatic and he knows this and doesn't feel like he can commit to Ami because she's so sweet and understanding and wouldn't shout back if he started screaming at her so the idea of getting to that stage with her freaks him out.

WHAT HAS THE POOR JADEN DONE TO YOU?HE DOES IT TO HIMSELF. Jaden is just the most accident-prone guy in existence. I'm pretty sure he has broken more than one limb. But anyway, you're probably going to regret telling me to hurt other people now ( ... )

SASHA!!! Oh, honeypie you are so gone on Ami! It will all be okay (at least it better all be okay or I might DIE... do you hear me Spirit, DIE!!!!!!!!) and the fact that you're so worried just shows how much you care! AND THE FACT YOU WORRY ABOUT HER CHIPPED TOENAIL POLISH IS ADORABLE TIMES ELEVENTY MILLION!!!

I do think the world is calling out for a fic to see what happens after Jaden was dropped off at Rei's. Just sayin'

This can be a challenge to write more of the girls. Yes, I like this plan. I like it very much! :P

Fulfillment of this plan may have to wait until I figure out what the hell is going on with Rei and Jaden, I'm afraid. They're the one couple I'm still completely clueless about.

I LOVE YOU. LET ME KISS YOUR BRAIN. Also, nail polish is my drug. I'd bleed holo glitter polish if I had a choice. Sasha being all polish-savy among other things just pushes all my right buttons. HNNNNNNNG.

Aw, so cute... and I love how they're on the one hand tip-toeing around deepening the relationship (well, Sasha does, but I have a feeling that Ami isn't unhappy about that), and on the other hand play these little "long married couple" games where they are demonstrating how close they really are.
Hehe, so the Starlights were a thing because of their ponytails?
Argh, and now I think about red hair curl-drying on freckled shoulders.
