Tell all the Truth but tell it slant-
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise

As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind-

nightwing, poem

Emily Dickinson has been ruined for me since highschool, where a classmate pointed out that all of her poetry can be sung to the tune of the theme from 'Gilligan's Island'.

((Yeah, yeah, but she predates Gilligan's Island. *g*))

((I have a special fondness for her from college. One major project in Creative Process class demanded each student make a 7-minute video interview with a creative person, but that creative person could not be someone on campus. Thus, students like me who lived on campus because home was 375 miles away and didn't know anyone local who wasn't campus-related were screwed.

((I decided to "interview" Emily Dickenson by being possessed by her and taped it in an actual graveyard. Before a few bouts of head trauma and my recent brain surgery my neck was still limber, so I dropped my head down, at which point some folks in the class watching the video squeaked, as my cameraman chanted something (from Bedknobs and Broomsticks!). When I brought my head up I had a totally different expression on my face and used a different voice. I alternated during the Q&A.

((I got an A. ::beams:: I was the only student who interviewed a dead person!))

((Well, from the description? You definitely interviewed someone creative. :D))

((Heh. Thanks. Everybody's interviews were like watching paint dry, and almost all of them boring in the same way. Mine was one of two videos filmed outside, out of 36 students. We did it in two overcast days because the battery died during day one, and it kept getting ever windier the second day. Nicely atmospheric. *snerk*))
