at around 9am today (i was still half sleeping) we get a knock at the door. it's richie's sisters amy and andrea, and they say they have bad news. their father is dead. he died of a heart attack. at first they didn't say exactly how, but then they went on to tell richie that it was drug related, and almost certainly on purpose. then they all left

he's doing ok, his cousin is staying the night here and they're/we're gonna play video games all night to try and cheer him up. i barely knew his father but i went along with all the family stuff just to be supportive. seems like having people around who care about you is very helpful in dealing with this kind of situation, and that's what he's been surrounded with today.
