Fandom: Naruto
Theme: snowball
The sudden wet splatter of icy cold against the back of his neck sent an unbidden chill down Hyuuga Neji's spine. A snowball, the rational portion of his mind deduced, while the somewhat smaller, and less rational portion busied itself with the hot flare of outrage that someone would dare to hurl a lump of frozen sludge in his direction. Suppressing a reflexive shudder, the Hyuuga Jounin turned slightly to glance over his shoulder, pale eyes seeking the culprit.
Tenten, perhaps. Or Lee. Either of them would have been a possibility, especially given that he already knew his two teammates to be engaged in less training and more playing in the powdery white that blanketed the landscape of the training areas. However, the problem that lay therein was the fact that he currently had no idea where either of them were.
Narrowing his eyes, Neji cast opalescent eyes across the relatively still scene around him, taking a few moments to pick out the forms of his teammates. Tenten was obviously the instigator, and likely had started it all with something as simple as a well-formed mound of snow ground into the top of Lee's shiny bowl-cut hair. She was, surprisingly, the more impetuous of the trio, but it wasn't very difficult to see how easily a move such as that would have drawn their green-suited companion into the mix.
Only, that still didn't answer the question of who had flung the damp heap of snow at the back of his head, seeing as neither Tenten nor Lee seemed to have really noticed his presence from where they were tussling in the snow, Tenten rubbing another fistful of snow into the thick-browed young man's face.
Frowning, Neji began to turn and go back to his training when his attention was caught by the faintest of giggles from one side of him. Whirling, he sought for the source of the sound, his eyes easily finding the dark-haired shape of his cousin, leaning out from behind a tree, a hesitant smile on her face, mittened hands conspicuously powdered with white frost. Her eyes widened as his gaze caught hers, and he could see the momentary fear in them as she mentally tried to gauge what his reaction would be.
Pausing for a moment, he took a deep breath and simply turned back to his training, ignoring her. Hinata relaxed visibly, unable to see the faint quirk at the corner of Neji's mouth as he shook his head slightly, his mind already turning back to the task at hand.
Irritating or not, whether he wanted to or not, he couldn't ever really stay angry at her for long.
