Supernatural Ep. 101 = American Gods?

Is it me or did Supernatural echo some craziness from Gaiman's American Gods..?

Not that I mind because I fairly enjoyed the book...

Yeah, it definitely did echo it, though I'm not sure how purposefully. Actually, I didn't really find the purpose in any sequence of episode. :S I sort of... hated it.
But the thing is, I don't want to hate it. WHY, SPN, WHY? WHY MUST YOU WRING MY HEART SO?

And here comes my douchebaggy question: why did you like it?
