More on Good and Evil

Inspired by a reply to something +Greg Christopher was writing about. I'm finding myself generally reluctant, in games I'm developing or running, of having a true 'supernatural evil'. Interesting. The more I've thought about it, the more I've come to a similar - yet almost opposite in a way - conclusion. I currently tend to view Evil (in the sense of wanton destructive tendancies that ultimately serve no one) as something that only truly exists among the relatively rare supernatural.

You say "Honestly, I think it's better to leave the whole good and evil thing in the hands of mortals." Well, my view on fantasy mortals is largely based on what I see in humanity. And while I have a very dim view on humanity overall, I don't see Evil. I see a lot of stupidity and selfish thoughtlessness - a lot, but "evil" acts are almost always a matter of opinion and perspective.

I knew Satan started out as a tempt-er and not the root of all that is evil, but I didn't know that came from the Persians. Sometime around the time of Daniel and Esther, I guess.

So, here's a question for those who are more familiar with mythology and world religions than I am: were the ancient Persians the first to embrace ditheism (dualism in a GvE context)? If not, who was?
