Pathfinder Campaign

I keep having this itch to call it my D&D Campaign, but I'm not running D&D, I'm running Pathfinder.  Anyway, the PCs have just made level 4, and have done fairly well for themselves.  I've introduced a number of house rules specifically for this campaign, and they seem to be doing relatively well.

1)  All characters use the gestalt rules from D&D ( Read more... )

Are you using NPCs to flesh out the party, or just scaling down the challenges?

One player has two characters, there's two NPCs, and one player has one character, so a party of 5, which is good.

Pathfinder is pretty much D&D anyway (and admits it). Though with all those house rules, I'm not even sure you're playing Pathfinder. ;)

I've a few games going (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, the odd Sunday).

Zombies on a sub is actually an awesome idea. They could be investigating a sunken sub that people have lost contact with, and are doing a 'rescue or retrieve' mission, or perhaps the sub is found run aground, and they have to check it out. The latter can be kind of fun, because some people could have gone in and disappeared -- and you can have hints that they the PCs need to find a 'cure' inside the sub before there's a zombie outbreak.

Pathfinder was joked about being D&D 3.75
The Saga changes to AC, Saves, Skills, Fate points, and adding a second wind paved the way for a lot of what became 4th edition standard.
So.. you're playing D&D 3.895 and a third.

Yeah, something like that. :D Though I'm not using Second Wind / Fate Points. I've considered Hero Points from the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide, but haven't actually given it a lot of thought.

Yeah, the Saga edition was pretty inspiring, so I lifted a lot from that. I still feel that characters are a little slow in progression, which is why I decided to use the gestalt rules. Hey, at least the house rules are provided by d20 books. ;-)
