New role for Michael? Happy Birthday ctbn60!

Michael tweeted yesterday that he has auditioned for the role of Peter Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy." This would be huge for him & tweeting about it indicates how much he wants it; instantly, the 'net was abuzz with a lot of approving responses. It's the kind of role he could knock out of the park so my fingers are crossed hard for him

I know nothing about GOTG except that now I might have to see it! I was initially slightly concerned that he's becoming typecast in comics roles but hey, it's his career and there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm about him on Twitter. I was surprised that he would tweet it before it's a done deal - drumming up support I suppose. Bit embarrassing if he then doesn't get it even though the director's a good mate though. Eh, I'm a pessimist...

This would actually be casting him against type as a (grumpy) hero who's also half-alien. He's always wanted a Harrison Ford role and this is it! Plus it would open up lots of opportunities within the Marvel & Whedon spheres.

I thought that jgl as batman story had been debunked as rumor? Anyway, MR is a good actor, he deserves more opportunities to show what he can do. Good luck to him. Also it'd be great if he gets more attention and get Tumblr to obsess about him as Lex. That'd be awesome.

That could very well be - I saw it mentioned repeatedly but it could just be fannish wishful thinking.
