Tentage

Sep 15, 2009 10:25

So I have a little mildew on my bell tent and an online search tells me the best thing for this is to put it in the bath with a little soap and scrub it out with a soft brush. Anyone else got any suggestions that dont involve this idea?

put the tent up and wash the area with hot water and bio washing powder, leave to dry and put away :)

There was a thread on R7 about this with many ideas, some of which may even be useful :)

They recomend bleach. I am still coloured unconvinced.

However this is likley it's last use of the year, so if it goes wrong and dissolves then I have a while to get a replacement

My Googlefoo tells me that white vinegar is the best bet, also sounds less like its gonna melt the tent.

Tents are like LRP kit, never wash them :)

I had a tent die from mold because it was put away with a load of wet leaves. Just make sure to air and dry it whenever you use it. A little scrubbing won't hurt but from my experience doesn't gain you much either

Can you use spray on mold-and-mildew killer on fabric? I use that to kill mold and mildew everywhere else it shows up...
