New Comic: Supernatural #1

Does anyone read the Supernatural comics?

I've been wondering what people think of the new series, since it's being done by a bona fide comics writer who has not worked on the show. There is also a new artist.

I'm also up for a spoilery discussion of the previous Supernatural comic series in the comment section of this post.

A friend of mine actually gave me the newest comic and I loved it. It was cool to have a standalone about Stanford-era Sam, and the female character was really cool. I was planning on saving all the comics for sometime in the (distant) future when the show is no longer on the air, but I wasn't gonna turn down a free comic!

That's excellent! I really enjoyed the story, especially the atmosphere and the girl Sam meets. What did you think of the artwork? I thought it suited the story, but Sam looked more like John and he looked kinda short!

I think you might enjoy the previous series as well. It was written by Dabb and Loflin, so it was like the show, but with a bigger budget! It's meant to be canon, so what we learn about John's relationship with Sam and Dean is extremely interesting.

I liked the artwork in this better than 'Origins' (that's the only other one I got a peek at) but yeah I agree- Sam didn't look very Sam-like, and that girl must have been crazy tall!

Well I really loved the anime series- especially the episode 'rising son' which was based on one of the comics too I believe. I will definitely check them all out someday!

I found a preview of the previous series, Beginning's End:

I love how the artist used some very Jared-y features to depict Sam. Dean looks like Dean, but not Jensen. Anyway, the art was very good throughout the series, and the story was engrossing.
