The Purple man is actually one of the scariest villains in the Marvel Universe. Not powerwise, but about the personal effect he can have on a character.
I don't know if you've read Alias, but they showed there exactly how dangerous he could be. For example, there's a mention of him ordering all the people in a restaurant to stop breathing, because the sound of them annoyed him. They all did and died.
He also made Jessica Jones his personal slave for months.
There's also the first issues of the New Avengers, where in the prison, he calmly orders Luke Cage to kill his friends, it's only the fact that he's on a drug that supresses his powers, that stops him.
Believe me, if there's one villain that isn't lame (when used right that is) it's the Purple Man, he's one damn scary bastard.

Re: the Purple Man...yikes, I didn't know! I haven't read Alias. I just thought his name was silly.
Thanks for letting me know, though! I edited my notes accordingly. :)

He might look ridiculous, effeminate even, esp. at first glance, but he's one guy you should never underestimate.
He's a massmurdering psychopath, with a history of rape and who gets his kicks destroying other people's lives.
Luckily his powers only work when his victims are near, but still...

There ar eso many scenes that made my chest twinge-- Peter wanting to be an X-Men (in Office Hours," natch), Hank's transformation, the entire scene with the orange couch (which made my nose tingle) and the pool table scene. What I love the most about this is how the support groups is Peter's idea. Spiderman's always been touted as the most "human" of all the Marvel heroes; he's joe-blow who happens to stick to walls. And a support group? Exactly what Joe-blow would do.
In conclusion, you rock like the Alps. Thank you so much for writing this and posting it in its entirety so that we poor readers wouldn't have to go into conniptions waiting for the next installment.

*g* That makes me incoherent with joy, so, yay! Win-win situation.
I'm really glad the scenes you mentioned worked for you! The orange couch scene was one of the hardest ones for me to write, but it was also one that I could see really clearly as I was writing it. The pool scene, on the other hand, was just fun.

Hee! Yes, exactly. Peter is such a normal guy. Despite what he says about wanting to just be Spider-Man, you know he'd hate it. He desperately needs beer-and-pizza time. ;)

:D Thank you!
And thanks so much, again, for reading and commenting. I'm really glad you liked it!

And the pool scene in this story was hilarious, one of my favorite bits. From now on, I'm heckling!

That I knew... I just wasn't sure where the "and this would mean he's great at pool" came from. I think you and I talked about the boys playing pool once, awhile ago.

LOL! I'm glad you liked that part. :)

I think it's a bit of a stretch on the part of the writers for that to be his secondary mutant power, but I know there are some old Uncanny issues in which he schools Logan at the table.

I thought the Purple Man was stupid too - until I read Alias, in which Bendis made him a terrifying psychotic. Alias is good - there's quite a bit of Matt Murdock in there.
Congratulations again on completing this - it was awesome fun to read through, and the notes were a special treat.

No problem!
That Henry would write a haiku memo is just the most cool and lovely thing.
It's right up there on the list of reasons why I adore him. (It's a long list.)

I'm glad it wasn't just me, then. Sounds like I need to read Alias one of these days.
Congratulations again on completing this
Thanks again. :)

The notes section was great to see because I noticed some of things that you mentioned and where you got them from. I knew a few of them, especially the ones that are comic related.
Again, good job with this fic.
