"The Wisdom to Know the Difference," Chapter 10/11

Mar 03, 2007 02:20

Another blizzard! I'm getting tired of this. Today wasn't the fun, "snowed in with tea and fic" kind of blizzard either (though it looks like tomorrow might be). Instead, it involved driving in a whiteout with drifts nearly closing the roads and other not-fun things ( Read more... )

Eeee! It's Matt hustling pool! Matt and Cyclops hustling pool.

"Scott wields his staff, wooden and thick! Break those balls, Scott, with your stick!"

*dies* If I'd been drinking something at this point, I'd have been snorting liquid out my nose, too.

*G* I probably shouldn't admit that this was one of my reasons for writing this fic. Ahem.

LOL! Yay!

They are so adorkable. And Hank's heckling was priceless.

I love the pool hustling - Matt and Scott, both playing it so cool. And the heckling, and the cheering! (Oh, Henry - so camp, and so funny.)

It's lovely to read as the friendship grows between Peter and Henry - the Dickinson versus Seuss was funny, but funny-sad, if you know what I mean.

One of my very favorite things about Hank is that, yes, his IQ is off the charts, and yes, he probably thinks about physics for fun, but it's also absolutely believable for him to start in with really ridiculous penis jokes. (Or writing an "I'm Gay!" autobiography, etc.) :)

I think I do. But that's another thing I love about Hank--he has the ability to switch gears very quickly, and he doesn't (usually) mind explaining himself.

A wonderfully light chapter, especially when they were playing pool. Probably the best part was Peter and Hank heckling Scott and Matt. Outrageous.

I thoroughly enjoyed Peter and Hank's talk near the end of the chapter. Hank really got Peter to think about being himself and not just as Spider-Man. Peter is really having a hard time with that and hopefully Hank will help him a little with that.

Outrageous, yes. And WAY too much fun to write.

Hank really got Peter to think about being himself and not just as Spider-Man.

This struggle on Peter's part was very much inspired by Spider Man 2, and I'm not sure it's something that will easily--if ever--be entirely resolved for him.
