The guys talking about the little difficulties of their costumes is hilarious. I always think about the little everyday details of life like that too. :)
Thanks! I love thinking about (and reading about) little details like that. I remember reading the part of your story when Hank is a little concerned about fitting into the car, and thinking, "Yes, exactly!" Because, I mean, that kind of stuff would matter.
Oh, words cannot describe how much I'm loving this story. The Peter and Hank of "Office Hours" were so brilliant (in more ways than one *G*), and this continuation captures all of it and more. Kudos for writing long!fic *g* -- I'm definitely looking forward to more.
I love the way you've been doing Peter in this (and the way you did both him and Hank in "Office Hours")--frustrated, wanting to help but afraid of saying/doing the wrong thing, and desperately wanting someone to talk to/commiserate with over the whole superhero thing in general, because he's one big, stressed-out ball of insecurities whether in or out of the costume.
And I just--I can't stop thinking. About him. About how difficult even stupid, everyday things--things he liked doing--are going to be for him, now
Ah, the glorious irony of Peter having this conversation with Daredevil while totally ignorant of Matt's real identity or powers. (I can't decide if the serious part of the conversation, where Daredevil is obviously speaking from his experiences as Matt rather than in costume, is my favorite part, or if the bit where they discuss trying to get in and out of their ridiculously tight costumes is).
it'd take, like, an act of God to get Peter to take his mask off in publicAnd this bit
( ... )
He unmasked at a press conference during Civil War (part of the whole "now you have to be registered" thing--he would have been arrested if he hadn't given up his secret identity). Then he changed his mind and switched to the anti-registration side, but by that point, the Kingpin already knew where he lived.
After said press conference, he was so freaked out by the fact that he'd unmasked that he hid in the bathroom and threw up. While Iron Man stood outside the door going, "Peter, it's really not that big of a deal. Um, are you okay?" (Peter: *incoherent wail* "No! I want to die!").
I knew we were heading for this conversation from the start of the chapter and I have to say it didn't disappoint. I'm glad Spidey found someone to talk to, though the irony of it being Matt is entertaining. I must join in with the throng and say that them discussing their costumes was great. Will Matt be running into Peter out of costume in this story?

*giggle* Thanks! It's so sad that, for me, long!fic is anything over 10,000 words. I'm slooooow.

Yes. Not to mention, constantly looking for a father mentor figure.

Writing that scene (which was the first time I wrote Matt, actually) made me laugh. A lot. Peter would die if he knew!
And this bit made me grin even if the irony was unintentional.
Actually, maybe it was. What do you mean? I was thinking of the scene in Spider-Man 2 when I wrote it, but I'm not up on Spidey comics canon.

Ahem. Now that would be telling. ;)
