I know they're filming now so, yes, fingers and toes crossed for January!
I loved the slow buildup throughout - the flashbacks of the "three requests" was clever. The gender norm role reversals (like the scene when Claire gives Jaime oral) was really refreshing to see. Very intimate and his facial expressions throughout completely nailed it.
I saw on tumblr that the BJ scene was canon from the book. I went back and read that chapter and man... Gabaldon was so crazy vague. I didn't know it was a thing when I read the book the first time.
I said to Liz the other day that Outlander is the first series I've read where I shipped the canon couple from the get go. Usually I'm anti-canon couples.
Oh yeah, definitely. A lot of folks are all about the Frank/Claire ship too (thanks to the TV series) but OMG NO. He's a bland old fart in the books and their relationship was nothing but strained/awkward.
It's been years since I read the first book and I only vaguely remembered that scene.
I think they make a solid canon ship because it's believable, tender, imperfect and Jamie is the kind of man we'd all like to have in our lives...

Fingers crossed.
The episode was really good, though. I liked the flashback feel of it.
