Charlie is employed as a sculptor in an atelier. His co-worker, whose position requires that she sculpt the heads of the lifesize figures, is moving to the south. This means Charlie will have the opportunity to interview for her job. Currently the modeling department consists of L and himself primarily working as sculptors and occasionally welders ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'll keep everyone updated on how it's all going. He isn't going to be painting my head for the judging, just sculpting. The material is bright white so I don't know if I will be able to get a good photo of the finished piece to post here.

Mostly. There are some odd parts of the process where Charlie will have to take precise measurements of every part of my face. Necessary for working, but a little weird. It's not very often that a signifcant other wraps a tape measure across my nose and records the stats. He'll also be staring at me and squinting a lot.

You've got me thinking...I am going to suggest to Charlie that we take pictures before we leave the house in case for any reason it becomes property of the atelier or if they want to keep it there. If the artist likes the sculpture of my head, he may want to use it. I am trying not to think that far though, partially because it seems silly but mostly because it's also possible.

If it's possible, then it would be sensible of you to record it before giving it to the artist. It would be something you'd enjoy looking at in the future.

What an exciting opportunity! I think I would be a bit uneasy to have someone staring at me so much!!

It's the facial expressions he makes when he's concentrating that will be the most difficult for me. I am going to have to try to hold whatever expression we decide upon and not break out into laughter.

If he is pleased with the finished piece, I may go with him to work that day and let his boss take a look at the head, the photos and the model. As a bonus for more people staring at me, Sarada could pick me up on her way to work and I could have lunch with her and walk around the town a bit.

I think the weirdest part later will be seeing a replica of my head, disembodied, and looking at me.
