I haven't done this in a long while...

But, music lover that I am, and often finding inspiration in songs or thinking that certain songs could be about fictional characters, relationships, or situations, I thought I would do this week's fannish5 :

Name five songs (or whole playlists, if you want to get ambitious) that you associate with particular fictional characters.

OK, I succumbed and offered five pieces over at the Bad Clam. Your selections intrigued me! The TSO pieces are all quite fitting, and I had never heard of Vienna Teng (off to iTunes tonight); "Harbor" indeed evokes Elwing and Eärendil. "Cell Block Tango" with some changes to the lyrics would be perfect for "Silmarillion: The Musical!" X^D

If I had been clever, I would have put links or YouTube videos in the post, as you did.

If they ever make a "Silmarillion: The Musical" I won't even complain about the gross inaccuracies in plot or characterization! Especially if they have the Kinslaying Tango. XD

"Do You Hear the People Sing?" from Les Miserables - this song inevitably reminds me of the Rebellion of the Noldor.I loved this association (giggling like a fool). " Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Beyond the barricade Is there a world you long to see?" And those words fit what bigger-than-life character? Falls right in with my heroic conception of the Noldor perfectly (someone who gets utterly irate when she reads a fic that makes Feanor and Sons the unrelieved Bad Guys ( ... )

"Then join in the fight that will give you the right to be free!" *waves sword around in Feanorian fashion* ;) Yes, I also hate Totally Evil!Feanor & sons stories. I maintain the only truly evil characters are those such as Morgoth and Sauron.

loved advent as a little kid in Catholic grade school mainly for that song

This is my favorite Advent/Christmas song. It's beautiful.

This is a whole new area for me to mine (someone who has wasted quite a lot of time casting The Silmarillion, the movie). I really have to put more thought into Silmarillion the Musical.

We can collaborate: you cast the characters, I'll find the music! ;D
