THAT IS AWESOME. Your charters are such incredible stories. Half shares of two cows! Actual judicial combat! I'm honestly looking forward to seeing how it ends :)

I KNOW, RIGHT? I've never had judicial combat (not happen) before. Evidence that the system worked! In my charters!

I'm currently bogged down again the bad Latin (and working on tracking down historiography of post-Carolingian, pre-Clunaic reformed monasticism that deals with lay-monastic relations), but I'll post an update once I get to the rest!

I know! I totally didn't see it coming (the bad Latin, which is the reason I decided I had to do a complete translation in the first place, didn't help with that), but then... not!judicial combat!
