Today I was definitely successful at France. The poor French language may be languishing somewhere covered in bandaids and antibiotic cream after I extensively butchered it all afternoon, but the good news is that I survived butchering French and no one died, and everyone seemed to understand me. Probably all of this is very good for me - I could probably do with being a little more okay with relying on other people when I need help. It definitely has me feeling a little squishy, though.

Uuuugh me tooo. And I found that travelling was really instructive in that respect, too!

It's harrrrrrd! That said, I have to say that the various people who have been helping me out since I've arrived have made it easier than it might have been - even to the point where yesterday, as I was apologizing to the international student people at the university for causing them problems that I really began with no idea I'd end up causing them, they were all "don't worry! It's not you! You're not the only one! The problem is the university's administrative system!" Having people treat my confusion respectfully is very helpful. Hopefully it will continue!
