Today walked a fine line of almost being wiped out by cramps. I successfully kept myself on this side of concentration-destroying pain with slightly more than recommended doses of alleve and extra-strength tylenol, but I wasn't greatly productive even so. I didn't (mea culpa) get any writing done; however, I did accomplish some very necessary ( Read more... )

I wind up hitting my cramps with 100 milligrams of tramadol and 400 mg of metaxalone. While if I tried that without pain it would knock me out, that combo gives me the ability to at least show up for life for about five hours before I have to repeat.

Yes, I am thinking quite hard about evicting my uterus.

Luckily, mine can be taken care of relatively effectively with the stronger types of over-the-counter medication! The times I've had to take Tylenol 3 for them, I definitely wasn't able to show up for life. The trick for me is very much hitting the drugs hard before the cramps start - with the risk of underestimating how bad they're going to be (they vary) and ending up having to chase them around with elevated dosages.

I question the whole uterus idea. Surely there are more efficient forms of reproduction.

I too was unproductive today (only way more so than you - ie completely) due to headache, dizziness, and lack of motivation. Meh, it happens and it's ok for such hard workers like us to get a day or two off especially when we're feeling crappy. And I just had my first rotations nightmare too! My dear, we are in sync. These days happen, don't let it make you feel too bad. : ) Sorry to hear about your dad though. I am glad that Morgayne is handling it well. And thank you so so so so much for the email/lj/postcard. *major hugs*
Here's to a better tomorrow!

I'm a little more worried about my dad now (see my most recent post, and mea culpa for reading things written by "doctors" on the internet), but I hope you're feeling better today and can be more productive! I'm hoping that if I go out and grocery shop and try to calm down for a while, I'll also be able to squeeze some productivity out of the day.

I'm glad my post/ecard helped! The parcel is in the mail!

Thanks! Things have taken a new and more bizarre twist with it not being his gallbladder but apparently a very unusual blood clot in one of the veins leading into his liver. My sister seems to think it's likely not that dangerous, but OMG creepy and unusual. At least people's gallbladders give out all the time.
